Foucault and Deleuze: critique and evolution of intelectual debates in France

Through a review of intellectual history, this article analyzes the consolidation of the figure of the intellectual in France since the Dreyfus affaire, in order to understand the positions of thinkers such as Jean-Paul Sartre regarding political events, as well as the so-called commitment to situations of this nature in the 1960s. It is against Sartre's radicalism and Marxist commitment that the analyses of Foucault and Deleuze appear in that same decade and a resignification of the concept of intellectual begins, as can be seen in the idea of the specific intellectual and its connection with the idea of commitment (Foucault), as well as in the critique of the media intellectual and intellectual impeachment (Deleuze).
