Abstract

User-centered design means a new advance in the design paradigm. Although most research tends to design pleasant experiences, these do not agree with what people who do drag perceive: despite the initial discomfort, this activity becomes a fundamental action because they consider it essential to make the political dimension visible in gender expressions, in addition to helping them in their personal fulfillment. This article presents a case study that identifies six reasons why people choose to express themselves regarding gender through drag and compares them to six ways of doing activist design. The conclusion is that people who do drag design activist experiences through the style-fashion-clothing articulation.
