La redención de Fausto, a reading proposal
Keywords:
poetry, prose poem, postmodernism, ekphrasis, imageAbstract
This paper is interested in studying the image within the prose poem and its simultaneous development with the poetic genre. For this purpose, we propose a postmodern reading of "La redención de Fausto", a poem by the Venezuelan Antonio Ramos Sucre (1890-1930). In this work we analyze the use of image and ekphrasis, as well as the way in which both intervene in the configuration of the space and the atmosphere in which the speaker develops, while following a fundamental tradition of the genre: the non-distancing of the plastic aspect in a postmodern environment. The poem alludes to the work of Leonardo da Vinci and the legend of Faust and intervenes directly in them to introduce a new discourse. Ramos Sucre not only brings considerable aesthetic and even experimental aspects to the prose poem, but also preserves the primordial aspect of it: the narrative in the image.
