The objective of this study is to document the functionality and potential school and home gardens as a strategy to promote sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation. Through the creation and development of home- and school gardens in two communities in the state of Morelos, semi-structured interviews, and data analysis, the study observed cultivated plant species, identifies beneficial insects and pests, and experimented with natural pest control methods. Finally, the study seeks to strengthen an environmental culture and promote scientific competencies with critical perspectives based on the participants’ experiences.
