Abstract

According to research conducted between March 2015 and March 2017, the astronomical importance that probably played the archaeological site of Teopanzolco has been revealed, from a series of equinoctial observations that have been recorded so far. The astronomical orientations presented by certain walls, alfardas, stairways, and the very arrangement of the fragments of architectural buildings that make up the referred pre-Hispanic settlement, make clear the astronomical significance of the site. We study the two moments when the Sun, in its apparent motion on the ecliptic, crosses the celestial equator when it first passes from the Southern Hemisphere to the Northern Hemisphere of the Earth and, for the second time, when it returns from the North to the South and the planes of the ecliptic, and the celestial equator intersect.
