Resumen

El petróleo es una mezcla de hidrocarburos alifáticos y aromáticos, siendo estos últimos los que pueden ocasionar mutaciones en el ADN, cáncer e incluso la muerte. De acuerdo con su composición química, el petróleo puede ser de difícil remoción en el ambiente, por ello, es necesario buscar alternativas viables que disminuyan el impacto en el entorno. La biorremediación es una técnica que emplea la capacidad metabólica de plantas y microorganismos para utilizar al petróleo como una fuente de carbono hasta transformarlo en CO2, H2O, CH4 y ácidos grasos. Los hongos de los géneros Aspergillus, Penicillium y Fusarium destacan por la producción de enzimas degradadoras de petróleo y biosurfactantes por lo que serán de gran importancia en este trabajo.
